The watch maker Breitling originally manufactured precision watches that could be used in aviation and science. Due to their history as a precision watch maker they now manufacture watches that use large and easy to read faces for the consumer market. Breitling watches tend to be more contemporary in design than other classic watch makers such as Breguet and hence target a different market. Even so, the watches are made in Switzerland and are built to the highest specification using Swiss components.

Breitling's History
Breitling was founded in 1845 by Leon Breitling in a French speaking area of Switzerland known as Brenese Jura. Today, the company is based in Grenchen. Although most of the original watches were manufactured with pilots in mind they were usually bought as luxury watches by the rich and famous.
Breitling watches contain functions that cannot often be found from other manufacturers. For example, some Breitling watches come equipped with a moon phase function and a fly back feature.
Breitling Navitimer Collection
The Breitling Navitimer collection of watches is one of the most well known. Originally designed to be used by pilots of aircraft, the first models used a “circular slide rule”. As the watch design began to become more popular the Navitimer product line was created.
The Cosmonaute Navitimer is a special model in this collection that comes with a 24 hour dial rather than 12 hour. It was originally created for use in space where there is no day or night. Today, the Cosmonaute can only be found as a special edition.
Other examples of the Navitimer include the Men’s Navitimer 701 which is a stainless steel model and the Navitimer World which is one of the largest watches built by Breitling. The major feature of the Navitimer World is that it can be set to display the time in two different time zones– perfect for the regular traveller.
Breitling Windrider Collection
The Breitling Windrider collection encompasses a range of different watches. The Windrider collection focuses on creating a high quality, professional watch that’s reliable as well as precise. As with most Breitling watches the collection was created with the aviation industry in mind.
An example is the Breitling Windrider Chronomat. These watches come with a self winding system for the chronograph as well as a range of functions for keeping track of the time. There are also Breitling Chronometers available.
The Breitling Windrider Chrono Cockpit is another example of a watch from this collection. Watches from the Windrider range incorporate a number of different functions whilst utilizing a distinctly modern style. When it comes to feminine style the Breitling Windrider Starliner is one of the best options available. The design is noticeably softer than many others from the Breitling collection and the Roman numerals used on the face give it a more traditional feel. It also includes a sapphire crystal to help reduce glare ensuring it’s readable no matter what the situation.
Breitling Aeromarine Avenger
The Breitling Aeromarine Avenger range is probably the most sophisticated and complex in design. Combining precision with almost futuristic watch faces the Avenger is a wristwatchthat always stands out.
Other models of the Avenger include the Avenger Seawolf, Super Avenger and the Avenger Seawolf Chrono.
