History of Jaeger LeCoultre
Jaeger LeCoultre was originally founded by Antoine LeCoultre in 1833. The company began in a workshop situated in the town of Le Sentier, and immediately started to produce top quality timepieces. In 1847, LeCoultre became famous in watch making circles for inventing a system that allowed watches to be set without the need for keys.
In 1866, the company decided to control more of the watch making process, and converted the workshop into a manufacturing base. Over time, Jaeger LeCoultre manufactured watch movements for famous companies including Patek Philippe.
It wasn’t until 1903 that Jaeger LeCoultre became known by its modern name, when Edmond Jaeger asked the company to produce a specific type of watch. This developed into a series of pocket watches, although it wasn’t until many years later that the company became known as Jaeger LeCoultre.
Recently, in 2009, Jaeger LeCoultre (also known as JLC) manufactured the most complicated wristwatch to ever be produced – containing a total of 26 different complications.
Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Watches
There are a number of different types of Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso watches. The Reverso Grande GMT, for example, features a large date display, as well as a day/night window. It is a square cased watch that has a 6 day power reserve. Other watches in the collection include the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Duo, Grande Sun Moon and 986 Duodate.
