The first TAG Heuer Formula 1 wrist watch was manufactured in 1986 and aimed to cash in on the popularity of the company amongst F1 fans. Many followers of Formula 1 enjoy the statistical and time keeping aspect of the sport just as much as the action. For this reason the fact that TAG Heuer was so involved in the sport had not gone unnoticed. Since then a number of different Formula 1 watches have been produced including recently one which was designed with the aid of Fernando Alonso – a famous modern racing driver.
Used or pre owned TAG Heuer Formula 1 watches are more than just regular watches with the F1 branding however. Some of the timepieces in the collection are amongst the most elegant watches in the world. The exact specification of a Formula 1 watch depends on the model as there are many different features which could be included.
For example, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Indy 500 comes with luminescent hour markers, a screw crown and a colored or steel rubber strap. The strap also uses a double clasp for extra safety. There is also a chronograph model which has a movement which includes 1/10th of a second, seconds and minute functions.
Other models which are part of the collection include the TAG Heuer F1 Chronotimer, TAG Heuer F1 Alarm and Grande Date. The latter includes a unidirectional bezel, 200 meters water resistivity and a Grande Date window located at 6 o'clock on the watch dial.
There are a number of fake pre owned TAG Heuer Formula 1 watches available – often at a much lower cost than the genuine article. The problems arise when a good replica is intentionally sold as a real TAG Heuer watch. There are a number of different ways to tell a fake from a genuine though.
